Singing Rooms

People bring their stuff in
And the rooms change their sound
Their tone, their twang.
The acoustics change
And you realize
You are not home anymore.
But you also realize that
It's still the same song.
It's just a different chord.
And we all get to dance to it,
The minors, the majors, the seven-chords
Linger in the air
To remind us of our rotten lives
These cages which change their tones
As we bring our stuff in and out.
And the song goes on
Long after we have gone.
